How’s August? Here’s an Update

I’ve got a couple of books upcoming (maybe even this month!): Sparks and Taken with Tony.

My novel releases have slowed down significantly in the last four or five years, but I’ve really just had a time of it, that’s all I’m going to say. However, that hasn’t meant I haven’t been writing. Slower, yes, but I have a lot of stories that have been slowly coming together. And now that my creative energy seems to be emerging from hibernation, I finally have quite a few of them getting really close to the finish line.

Sparks is the first book of the trilogy for Mage in Love, which was a serial fiction project that kind of got completely derailed mostly by life but definitely wasn’t helped by the closing of Kindle Vella.

And I honestly thought I would have Taken with Tony out years ago because it was so close, but then things happened and I just did not have the ability to get it done the way I wanted so I actually pulled it and decided to wait, and honestly, I’m glad I did. It’s a stronger story than it would have been, because of course, I’ve kept tinkering with it and working on it, and now I am so happy with it.

But other than a few short little stories that I might or might not get out before, after these, I’ll be releasing Liam’s Trust.

To put it into perspective, when I say the writing hasn’t stopped, I mean I actually have 26 ongoing works in progress at this moment. That is not a typo. Many of them are well on their way. Some are just a chapter or two. A few are just single scenes. But all are books I want to finish and publish someday. Three are Wolves’ Heat novels. Two are New Canton novels. A few are stories that are wildly new for me, not in my existing series, and that I started on a whim and fell in love with.

Because when things would get tough, sometimes I would just start something new, because I needed that enjoyment of a fresh start to keep writing. And sometimes, especially in the Wolves’ Heat series, things can get a little tense and a little emotional for me when I write. Take Cam’s Fortune. There’s a particular scene in that book that every time I read it, and absolutely when I wrote it, I cried so hard, just bawled my eyes out. The same happened in Will’s Hope. (More than once!) So what story always got put to the back and left for better moments when I was having a tough time? Liam’s Trust.

Anyway, this post turned into more of a little confessional than I expected, but I hope it helps you see that I’m still working on my books, that I’ve got releases upcoming, and that I might go a little quiet sometimes, but I’m not planning to go away.

I’m not someone who will ever stop writing. It’s really the only thing I know. :)

Working on Sparks, Taken with Tony, and Liam’s Trust

This month, I’m working on finishing up Sparks, Taken with Tony, and Liam’s Trust. Two are almost ready and one needs more time but still might not be too far off. I’m excited to say that I feel like my creative spark is finally back in force. It’s been a while since I really felt that way so I’m a little scared to talk about it in case I’m going to jinx myself.

But here’s to a happy July for everyone and a good writing month for me! :D

“Gift” (After the Heat, #11) Is a New Wolves’ Heat Short Story Featuring Devon and Kem

A few weeks ago, I mentioned the four short stories I was finishing for the Wolves’ Heat series. “Gift” is the third one for the After the Heat collection, and I’m getting it ready to release today.

“Gift” offers a glimpse into Devon and Kem’s lives after Devon’s Gamble. Devon is Devon, and Kem is there to…well, I shouldn’t spoil things! ;-)

I really like this one. It was so nice to be back with Devon and Kem!

I’ll upload the story soon and post the announcement when it’s available.

More Wolves’ Heat Short Stories?

I have two new Wolves’ Heat short stories coming. I’ll be publishing them in the After the Heat: Wolves’ Heat Stories ongoing collection.

That’ll pause the collection in a good spot for anyone who has purchased chapters for it while I focus on the novels. I really want to get Liam’s Trust out in the first half of this year and Eli’s Promise in the second half. And it’ll give me the chance to put out the second collection. (Chapters for After the Heat are sold in bundles of 5 and this’ll put the collection at 10 stories even.) :D

But I have two more almost complete short stories of the same style, one of which clearly isn’t an After the Heat story, meaning I really don’t know what to do with it. It’s a bit of a prequel for Liam’s Trust.

It’s a fun short story, but you don’t know the characters in the story (yet).

Do I release it now, or not? It stands completely alone, and I want to release it now, because I think it’ll be fun seeing how it ties in to the novel once it’s out. But that’s the author speaking, not you the reader. And I’ll have to figure out if I want to release it by itself and how/where to do it!

So, if you’re enjoying the short stories, be sure to let me know. It keeps me motivated!

Exciting News about Mage in Love!

Mage in Love is becoming a trilogy! The first book, Sparks, will be coming soon. (I don’t have the new pages set up yet, but that’s coming soon, too!)

With Kindle Vella closing, I’ve had to adjust my plans, but the story will continue on Laterpress until Sparks is released in book format on Kindle and elsewhere.

By making it a trilogy, I’ll get to tell this story the way I always planned to, as an adventure for Jihu, Gaeru, and the rest—full of magic, humor, and romance, while the mysterious connections to the New Canton Republic universe grow stronger with each book.

(This does mean that the serialized version on Laterpress will end at the end of book one, Sparks, and the only way to get the next book of the series will be in book format. But it’ll end on chapter 41 since chapter one was a free preview, which means all chapters will be delivered to anyone who bought a chapter bundle!)

And if you’ve been waiting for a book release to start this one, this’ll be your chance to jump into the story!

I’ll post more updates on Sparks and the Mage in Love Trilogy when I have more news to share. :)

New Wolves’ Heat Story on the Way!

I’m just days away from releasing Mason and Five Sneak Around (a.k.a. Marcus and Hawk Kiss and Tell). It’s volume 3 in the Wolves’ Heat Stories series tied to the Wolves’ Heat novels.

I’m so excited to be able to get it out finally, since I feel like I’ve been planning it forever. It’s a companion story to the main series, like Devon and Kem Under the Mistletoe and Cam and Rick Play Dirty, but it came in quite a bit longer. This one is a short novella. I love it! I hope you will, too.

Coming this week! It’s a Love Nest

It’s official! Tuesday is the release date for It’s a Love Nest, a New Canton Republic short novella! It was supposed to be a short story, but it ended up as a seven chapter short novella (plus epilogue!), because of course that’s how it turned out when I revisited Gregory and Thrace. I love them so much that I couldn’t help myself. :D

Anyway, I’ll get the links up when they come in, and post a release notice as soon as it’s available.

How do you change a world? One nest at a time!

Odessa Lynne returns to the New Canton Republic in It’s a Love Nest with a tale of love and devotion—and all the trouble a family of monsters and magic-wielders can create.

Gregory and Thrace are in love, but Gregory sure isn’t in love with the idea of carrying a nest for his monstrous alien mate!

It’s a love that will change a world—if he’ll just say yes…

This Week, Next Week

Ha! I had things I planned to publish this week, but here’s my quick note to say that they’ve all had to be put off until next week. A thing I really thought wouldn’t eat up my life this last week is happening and it’s just impossible for me to get everything done that I need to get done right now.

So, stories (It’s a Love Nest, “Folly,” the first After the Heat collection, and a surprise Wolves’ Heat story for Mason and Five that’ll be published individually) are still coming, as are the Mage in Love episodes, but most of it will have to wait until next week! I do have the Mage in Love episodes ready to go, but I just don’t have the time to proofread like I should and that means I also have to wait before I hit publish on those too. Maybe I’ll get some time tomorrow for that? We’ll see.
